Google Launches New Dynamic Blogger Templates

Google just ramped up it's free blogger.com template designs with dynamic views. These allow articles to pop up and in your face and be moved around. The newest versions includes a rebuilt platform for writing and editing your blog, as well as a user experience that is more interactive and fun to use. Built with the latest in web technology, these new blog templates are streamlined and load 40% faster than the traditional templates.

With older blogs such as this one the downside is that you may need to go back and tweak some images and content to show better since it is all accessible at a glance vs in a archive or from scrolling way down on the page. No worries. I am in the process of changing this blog to adjust to the new dynamic views.

If you are considering a Salem Oregon website design project, you probably are also thinking about Google, especially getting found on Google. SEO, or search engine optimization is a complex matrix of methods involving ongoing development of links and content to increase the page ranking relevance of your website by Google's mysterious algorhythms and Googlebot updates in near real time.

SEO is becoming an expected part of website design and this is a recent trend. It used to be that SEO was a separate service altogether but the general consensus is that if my site cannot be found, why build it? This opens up a whole new level of bidding and giving estimates for website development, as the SEO activity is very time consuming and eats up the hours.

Don't be surprised if the estimate for a full custom website design and development project that includes SEO, and social media setup with SEO runs between $2500 and $5000. With programming added for e-commerce it could be more. Anything less and you may get a partial package.

I get calls and see many sites where people just want to do it on their own. It usually shows, and gives the impression to the site visitor that the business is not as good as they were hoping, in comparison to other sites in the same area. This is unfortunate, and becomes more obvious from this side of the business, as a web developer, seeing the results of increasing web traffic, positive feedback on sites design, and top-of-Google results for many clients.

Website design and development should include SEO, but it needs to be understood for what it is and what is involved. The site itself needsto be SEO friendsly including titles, meta tags, and header tags that include keyword phrases relevant to the type of business. Links into the site need to be from sites that have similar relevant content, and the list goes on.

Usually a business owner is too busy to take the time and research and training to develop and optimize their own site. It is an investment in the future of your business.

It’s June 1st , the Moody Blues are in town tonight at the Cuthbert Amphitheater, and we are starting to see some sunny days. It’s officially Summer this month and this is the season for outdoor fun, BarBq’s and picnics. We have a great selection for both of those. Ask us for ideas. FYI - watch for us at the end of the month on KEZI 5pm news. We have a drawing for $500 of meat products!

Speaking of BarBQ’s, our weekly Saturday parking lot BarBQ starts this week, and Scott Wooley will be cooking up hot dogs, hamburgers, half chickens and ribs from 11am – 3pm, all at reasonable prices! Craft beers and Oregon wines are also available at our deli.

Ok ! That's It! I'm Going to the Get Motivated Seminar in Portland Or -

Yes, I was also offered the $1.95 seating price, but volunteered to upgrade it.

I have read some blogs about scams and how the promoters are using the big name speakers like Colin Powell, Barbara Bush, Bill Cosby, Terry Bradshaw, Rudy Giuliani, and others to promote other agendas and products.

My response: So What? Most people going to this are in sales or marketing, and would be surprised if there were not some other form of sales or marketing there when they are selling $1.95 tickets to see these top speakers.

In this economy, even a little bit of motivation goes a long way - this will be an "intensive" - i.e. - you probably know the drill .....a major event with a major theme - "Get Motivated" - attended by thousands.

You have already heard this and may have practiced it - that any form of motivational material - speakers, DVD's, etc., are only effective if used, practiced, and integrated into your life. Even then, more motivation doesn't hurt, and this event is an example of a boost that most of us in sales and marketing enjoy! In the recent past, I also have enjoyed the Tony Robbins CD program "Mastering Influence" for months after attending a weekend event in San Jose a couple of years ago.

So I am going to this with the intent that it will possibly be amazing, and possibly life changing. I plan to exchange a lot of business cards and network with a lot of people. It's one day in 2011 that could/will make a difference in the rest of the year!

It's a New Year and New Internet

A new internet is emerging that is being driven by social media, integration of tv and web, smart phones, video,and impatience when on the web.....the need for immediate information to make quick decisions about if, when, and where to click.....(click here for more)

Being positioned for this massive change is important since a website needs to be integrated with a blog (updated at least weekly - I know, I am guilty of this also), facebook business pages, and other media.

SEO or search engine optimization is expected to happen with web design ......i.e. a website is not worth its salt if it cannot be found......telemarketers and emails are saturating us with "get at the top of Google"......only to be selling Google Adwaords at an amazing markup.....results? Even if you get more clicks on your home page, are they going to take action?

Why Do Websites Glow in the Dark?

Small businesses are ramping up their internet presence and learning that websites are the most effective form of advertising for the least cost. By having a powerful internet presence you can leverage your print ads by reducing the size and promoting only the website. The good news? You save money and increase your response to the ad ! Have you seen some of these ads yet? By having a catchy tagline such as

Now there is a compelling reason called curiosity that most people who see the ad will go there just to find out the answer to the question. The Future of Yesterday but What About Tomorrow?

In an article published today by Time, "Google: The Economy in a Teacup",
Google recently reported earnings which were "extraordinary during a poor economic period, for the first quarter" , states the article. The CEO of Google Eric Schmidt said "Google had a good quarter given the depth of the recession — while revenues were down quarter over quarter, they grew 6% year over year thanks to continued strong query growth. These results underline both the resilience of our business model and the ongoing potential of the web as users and advertisers shift online." Google is the place to be right now and the strategy is to get found there, but that is only a part of the story. There's a lot more than "just getting found" ...once they find you, then what? It's all about strategic planning and integrating web site development with internet marketing.

Regarding our focus on web site development and internet marketing, many business owners, large and small are becoming aware that Google may be the most cost effective and efficient advertising solution to attract customers. Not only during this recession, but as a new business and marketing model as we move forward out of it. Of course print media and yellow pages are scrambling for their own survival. I have seen the yellow pages web package and promises and the cost and customers seeking better solutions.....as well as newspapers locally trying to tie in interviews for articles with an advertising appointment. I advised a client recently who called me to defer the advertising portion until "later".

As far as tomorrow goes, what is happening today is shaping the strategy of tomorrow. And with a new administration in D.C. that is very internet focused, this is the Green, paperless, and marketing trend for everyone. Will Google continue to dominate? Who knows. Microsoft finally had to give up somer market share. Google is like the Microsoft of search. Let's see what happens moving forward. In the meantime, they are the best play for advertising and marketing for any sized business.

Google plans launch of ANDROID Smart Phone

Mobile phones are taking on a new development strategy with a set of software and programming that allows for developer innovation.

As published in the Wall Street Journal online Tech section today , "Google executives said the device is the first of many to be built on Android, a set of programs that are designed to be modified by other developers and serve as a foundation for other software. The Internet titan announced the project last fall, investing in the technology in order to create a more direct way to deliver mobile versions of its Web services and drive usage of the Internet by cellphone users. Sandeep Aggarwal, senior Internet research analyst at Collins Stewart LLC, says that by 2011, Android will help Google generate $5 billion in incremental mobile ad revenue annually."

It looks like an invoice but it is really a solicitation to renew your domain name with another company besides Logion Web Design or your existing registrar. Prices are always higher, from $29 up to $65.00
The company's name seems official as does the envelope and letterhead:

Two that I have seen include : Liberty Names of America, Domain Resellers of America, etc. etc.

Just be aware that there is a difference between an invoice for your existing domain and a solicitation.

This is a great book. I am about 1/3 through and it really hits the target in the shift that is occurring with internet marketing, PR and advertising. For small businesses or large, it would be a good book to read to understand how other internet activities can enhance your web site and increase your bottom line.

We predict that the next trend, just like searches, will be towards local social networking and online video sites, as local business opportunities seek to compete with national for local advertising dollars.
